Lyrical Poster

Image
For my lyrical poster, I was inspired by Taylor Swift's song, "Karma." This is my favorite song on the album, so I tried to incorporate things she describes in the lyrics for my poster. I also wanted to make it a little more personal to me, so I added in a photo of my own cat, Trouble. This was a really fun project because I love music, and I think this was a great way to make a visual piece to correspond with one of my favorite songs. Photoshop has been a really great experience so far, and I definitely enjoyed working with it for this project.

Self Insertion

Image
For this assignment I decided to photoshop myself into a photo from Taylor Swift's music video for her song "Love Story." I am a huge fan of Taylor Swift, so I took advantage of the creative aspect of this assignment to put myself into one of my favorite music videos of all time. This was my first time working in photoshop, so although I struggled a bit, it was overall a good experience. It was somewhat difficult to figure out how to position my photo to fit in a way that made sense, but I think the end result came out nicely. It's not perfect, but I enjoyed the process it took to get to the finished product. Below is the picture I used of myself.

Complex Illustration

This assignment was by far the most challenging using illustrator, and I think it was a good way to exercise our knowledge while using the software. My outcome is definitely not perfect, but nonetheless I do feel like I have improved my abilities in illustrator. I chose to recreate my favorite picture of my best friend from high school, because it always makes me smile when I see it. While I struggled throughout the process of this assignment, I think it was a great way to improve my skills. My friend Macy got a good laugh from it too!

Exquisite Corpse

This assignment was both very difficult, but also fun. I really enjoyed the creativity behind drawing different parts of a body in class, then looking at what we all created at the end. I also liked that I was able to come up with my own background scene, clothing, etc. I chose to make my "peace cat" in outer space. Overall, I think this project allowed for some good practice in illustrator, and lots of creativity and thinking outside the box.

Calligram

Image
For my calligram I chose to use the outline of a frog, and fill it with text that says, "it's not so easy being green," a reference from Kermit the Frog. Because I am originally from Colorado, the frogs here in Florida have been one of my favorite things to see. I often send pictures of them to my family, and they always respond with some Kermit related joke. (My dad's favorite is, "where's Miss Piggy?). I found this assignment to be more challenging than previous ones, not necessarily because it was difficult, but because I ran into many obstacles when trying to get the text to look right inside the frog shape. Overall, I feel like it has definitely increased my knowledge when working in Illustrator, and I am glad that I didn't give up and decided to trust the process.

Icon

Image
For my imaginary company, I have decided to create a kitten friendly coffee shop. Enjoy your cup of joe with the company of cuddly cats! This coffee shop takes cozy to the next level, with furry companions by your side to help get you through the day. For my icon, I incorporated a heart with the cat's tail and steam of the coffee to show the love and positivity this company would spread. The pink and purple background represents the warmth and welcome from my company to the public. My design was inspired by a few simple coffee shop logos, as well as some clipart as shown below. I wanted to add my own spin on the design, so including my favorite animal was a great and fun way to do so.

HTML Illustration

For the HTML illustration project I recreated the Netflix logo. While I chose this because it seemed simple, it was far from easy as a beginner. I ran into may troubles along the way with the curves and filling in the color of each shape. I had lots of trials and even more errors, but the outcome made it all worth it. Though it took many attempts for me, the end result made me so much more appreciative of this project, and inspired me to keep challenging myself in areas that are outside of my comfort zone. Below is the graph I used as a guide and reference picture. <!doctype html> <html> <head> <meta charset="UTF-8"> <title> ENTER THE TITLE OF THE PROJECT HERE </title> <!-- import external .js scripts here --> <!-- <script type="text/javascript" src="#" ></script> --> <!-- modify CSS properties here --> <style type="text/css"> body,td,th { font-family: Monaco, "Courier ...
